Carmen Dean has worked in the educational field for thirty years as a classroom teacher, Reading Resource Specialist, school librarian, and Instructional Advisor. She received the Classroom Teacher of the Year Award for Los Angeles County from the California Gifted Association and was awarded the Los Angeles Education Partnership Award for Team Teaching. Her students have been awarded the Video in the Classroom awards and she led a team of winning students at the Los Angeles County Nature Bowl Competition, which focuses on environmental issues.

Currently she works as a part-time certificated technology consultant for the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE), training teachers and administrators in current technology trends and innovation. She is also currently the Southern California liaison for MATRIX, a project for increasing mathematics achievement through emerging mobile technologies. Carmen also does private consulting for educationally based technology companies.
